BRUSSELS, 12 September 2025 — The European Union has approved 102 new marine product processing units from India for export, further strengthening trade ties between the two regions. The approval expands the total number of Indian units authorized to supply seafood and related products to the EU market.
The decision reflects continued confidence in India’s compliance with EU food safety and quality standards. The newly approved units are expected to boost India’s marine exports, particularly in frozen and processed seafood categories.
India’s Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) welcomed the move, noting that it will enhance export capacity and support coastal economies. The EU remains one of India’s key markets for marine products, with demand driven by high standards for traceability, hygiene, and sustainability.
The approval follows rigorous inspections and assessments conducted by EU authorities in coordination with Indian regulatory bodies.
