NEW YORK, 12 September 2025 — Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Niall Collins TD, led a three-day trade mission to New York to promote Ireland as a premier EU hub for international legal services. The mission, held from 9 to 11 September, was organised by Ireland for Law, a government-backed initiative established in 2019 to advance Irish legal expertise globally.
Minister Collins participated in six engagements across the city, spotlighting Ireland’s strengths in commercial law, arbitration, dispute resolution, and corporate restructuring. He emphasized Ireland’s independent common law system and its appeal to global industries including aviation, finance, technology, and life sciences.
The final event, hosted at the Irish Consulate by newly appointed Consul General Gerald Angley, featured a panel discussion on Ireland’s legal advantages for international business. The delegation included Hon. Justice David Barniville, President of the High Court, alongside representatives from the Bar of Ireland and the Law Society of Ireland.
Minister Collins described the mission as a timely opportunity to deepen international legal partnerships and reinforce Ireland’s reputation as a trusted, modern legal centre.
