📍 Washington, D.C., 5 September 2025 — JetBlue Airways will become the first airline to adopt Amazon’s Project Kuiper satellite network to power its in-flight Wi-Fi, the companies announced this week. The partnership marks a significant milestone in aviation connectivity, with rollout scheduled to begin in 2027.
Project Kuiper, Amazon’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, is designed to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet globally. JetBlue will integrate Kuiper’s aviation-grade terminals into a portion of its fleet, enhancing its existing Fly-Fi service, which has offered free onboard Wi-Fi since 2013.
The Kuiper system promises download speeds of up to 1 Gbps per device, enabling passengers to stream, work, and communicate with improved reliability. Unlike traditional geostationary satellites, Kuiper’s LEO satellites orbit closer to Earth, reducing latency and improving performance.
JetBlue President Marty St. George called the agreement “an exciting leap forward” in onboard connectivity, positioning the airline ahead of competitors in digital service offerings.
