Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, Neale Richmond TD, has commenced a four-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and engaging with Irish communities in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
During the visit, Minister Richmond will meet with Irish Aid partner organisations, hold consultations with diaspora groups, and conduct bilateral meetings with UAE officials, including Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade. The discussions will focus on trade, education, and community engagement.
The UAE is a key market for Irish services exports, with over 70 Irish businesses operating locally and more than 200 companies exporting to the region. An estimated 14,000 Irish nationals currently reside in the country.
As part of Ireland’s evolving Diaspora Strategy, the Minister will gather input from Irish residents to inform future policy. He will also visit the UN Humanitarian Response Depot in Dubai, a long-standing Irish Aid partner supporting global emergency relief logistics.
The visit underscores Ireland’s commitment to deepening international partnerships and supporting its global diaspora.
