DUBLIN — Minister for Education and Youth Helen McEntee TD has announced the launch of ten new UBU Your Place Your Space services, backed by an additional €1.2 million allocated in Budget 2025. The expansion aims to deliver targeted, youth worker-led supports to up to 1,000 young people across Ireland.

UBU – Your Place Your Space: is a government-funded scheme that provides funding for youth services to support young people (aged 10-24) experiencing disadvantage.

The UBU programme is the government’s largest youth funding initiative, currently supporting approximately 68,000 individuals aged 10–24 through 249 services managed by 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs). It focuses on providing safe spaces and tailored interventions for young people who are marginalised, vulnerable, or at risk.

“This investment is about supporting communities, families, and above all, our young people,” said Minister McEntee. “By expanding UBU services, we are ensuring that more young people—particularly those who are vulnerable or at risk—have safe spaces, dedicated youth workers, and the supports they need to thrive.”

The ten ETBs awarded funding include:
Cavan Monaghan, Donegal, Kerry, Kildare Wicklow, Kilkenny Carlow, Laois Offaly, Longford Westmeath, Louth Meath, Mayo Sligo Leitrim, and Tipperary.

Each ETB will soon invite youth organisations to apply to deliver the new services, ensuring localised support tailored to community needs.
