CARDIFF — Transport for Wales (TfW) has introduced a limited-time £1 fare promotion for Pay As You Go (PAYG) rail customers, allowing travel between any of its 95 enabled stations in South East Wales from 19 to 28 August 2025.
The offer applies exclusively to single journeys made using TfW’s contactless PAYG system, which has become the operator’s fastest-growing ticketing product since its launch last year. Eligible routes include all Valleys lines and services to Bridgend, Maesteg, the Vale of Glamorgan, Abergavenny, and Chepstow.
TfW Chief Commercial Officer Alexia Course said the campaign aims to encourage more passengers to try PAYG and experience its flexibility and affordability. “We’re offering customers the ability to travel between any of our PAYG-enabled stations for just £1 per single journey,” she stated.
The promotion is part of TfW’s broader effort to expand digital ticketing and improve access to low-cost travel, with plans underway to extend PAYG services to North Wales under the Network North Wales project.
