Issued by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine
Dublin, Ireland – [Insert Date]
Minister of State for Research at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Noel Grealish TD, has officially announced an extension to the closing dates for applications under the 2025 Call for Proposals in Agriculture, part of the US-Ireland Research and Development Partnership.
This trilateral initiative—jointly supported by Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the United States—aims to foster collaborative research across twelve critical areas in agriculture. These include animal health and welfare, antimicrobial resistance, soil health, animal breeding and genetics, the bioeconomy, and data science for food and agriculture.
🔹 Ministerial Statement
Speaking on the announcement, Minister Grealish said:
“I am delighted to confirm an extension to the closing dates for the 2025 US-Ireland Research and Development Partnership in Agriculture. This Partnership provides a vital framework for collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers across Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the United States.”
He continued:
“International cooperation is essential to tackling complex agricultural challenges. Through this initiative, researchers can explore solutions in areas such as antimicrobial resistance mitigation, biomanufacturing, and livestock health and genetics. With the increased maximum grant rate of €500,000 for Irish institutions introduced last year, I strongly encourage eligible researchers to take advantage of this unique funding opportunity.”
🔹 Partnership Overview
The US-Ireland Research and Development Partnership in Agriculture is a collaborative effort between:
- The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (Republic of Ireland)
- The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA, Northern Ireland)
- The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA)
Eligible Research Performing Organisations (RPOs) in the Republic of Ireland are invited to submit joint proposals with partners in Northern Ireland and the United States under NIFA’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI).
