Theresa May, former UK Prime Minister and current Chair of the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, has continued to play an active leadership role in advancing international efforts to combat modern slavery. As part of her mandate, she recently led a delegation of commissioners to engage with several key global institutions, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

In April 2025, May presented the Commission’s report directly to UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York. The report outlines policy recommendations aimed at strengthening global cooperation and improving protections for vulnerable populations affected by trafficking and forced labour.

While no official statement was released from May directly quoting her views following the latest meetings, she has consistently emphasized the importance of building global partnerships and working closely with international institutions. Her engagement reflects a broader strategy to support effective and enduring solutions to combat human trafficking and hold perpetrators accountable.

The Global Commission, established to drive high-level political momentum and policy coherence on modern slavery, continues to coordinate with governments, civil society, and multilateral agencies to promote systemic change. May’s leadership remains instrumental in advocating for integrated global responses and pushing for stronger implementation of international legal frameworks.
