More than 40,000 jobs have been created or safeguarded across Wales during the current Senedd term, following over £600 million in direct investment by the Welsh Government, it was confirmed today.

As part of this ongoing strategy to build a stronger, fairer, and greener economy, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, Rebecca Evans, has announced nearly £10 million in new funding aimed at supporting around 700 jobs across Welsh businesses.

The latest investments include £1.2 million in Economy Futures Funding for Boccard UK Ltd in North Wales. The funding will facilitate the company’s move to a larger, digitised manufacturing facility, strengthening its role in the nuclear sector. The expansion will safeguard 59 existing jobs and create over 150 new roles.

In Bridgend, hygiene paper manufacturer WEPA will receive £8 million to enhance energy efficiency and expand production at its Maesteg site, securing 325 jobs.

A further £540,000 is being invested in Clydach Vale, Rhondda Cynon Taf, to reopen a previously closed factory. Operated by global food packaging firm Coppice, the facility is expected to create 83 new jobs initially, with plans to grow the workforce to 150 over five years.

Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Evans stated:

“The Welsh Government is proud that we have supported over 40,000 jobs since the start of this Senedd term. From direct business support to property investment and long-term regional planning, we are building the infrastructure and conditions that enable Welsh businesses to grow and future-proof their operations.”

This latest round of funding underlines the Welsh Government’s commitment to job creation, economic resilience, and regional development, laying the groundwork for sustained, inclusive growth.
