Toledo, Ohio — June, 2025
Three men from Lima, Ohio, have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in the armed robbery of a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier, announced the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge James R. Knepp.
The robbery occurred on November 30, 2023, while the postal worker was making routine deliveries in Lima. According to court documents, the men forcibly stole postal keys that grant access to secure mail receptacles, postal bags, and drawers. Following the theft, the stolen keys were used in multiple incidents involving the unauthorized removal of U.S. mail.
The defendants received the following sentences:
- Ahmir Curtis, 24, was sentenced to 24 months in prison after pleading guilty to robbery of U.S. property, theft of mail, and possession of postal keys. He was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay $650 in restitution for damage to federal property.
- Zenesto Martin Jr., 26, received a 30-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to the same charges. He will also serve three years of supervised release.
- Christian Proby, 26, was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison after pleading guilty to robbery of U.S. property and possession of postal keys. He was ordered to serve two years of supervised release.
The investigation was conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, and the Lima Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank H. Spryszak.
