The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado announced that Kalin Burton Goodtracks, 36, a member of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison followed by 25 years of supervised release for sexually abusing two children under his supervision. He was also ordered to pay a $10,000 Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act (JVTA) assessment.

Goodtracks pleaded guilty to two counts of Abusive Sexual Contact of a Child in Indian Country. The incidents occurred in 2019 at his residence on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation in Ignacio, Colorado. Both victims were under the age of 12 and related to Goodtracks.

“This case reflects our unwavering commitment to pursue justice for vulnerable victims,” said U.S. Attorney Peter McNeilly. “Mr. Goodtracks preyed on children he was entrusted to protect and deserves to serve a lengthy sentence.”

FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek added, “There will be no refuge for child predators—on or off tribal lands. The FBI will continue to aggressively investigate those who target children.”

U.S. District Judge Gordon P. Gallagher imposed the sentence on June 16, 2025.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Southern Ute Investigations Division. Prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jeffrey K. Graves and Lisa Franceware.
