Sentra, an Israeli-American cloud data security startup, has announced a $50 million Series B funding round, bringing its total capital raised to over $100 million. The investment was led by Key1 Capital, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Zeev Ventures, Standard Investments, and Munich Re Ventures. This funding will support Sentra’s expansion of engineering resources and the enhancement of its platform to safeguard sensitive data in AI-driven environments.
Originally developed as a Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) tool, Sentra has evolved into a comprehensive Cloud-Native Data Security Platform (DSP). The platform offers in-place scanning across AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises systems, utilizing large language model pattern matching to classify content and identify policy or permission gaps that could expose sensitive data. Notably, Sentra’s technology extends protection to training datasets and generative AI prompts, ensuring they remain free from personally identifiable or restricted data .
CEO Yoav Regev reported that Sentra’s annual revenue has grown by over 300%, with new Fortune 500 clients adopting the technology for generative AI projects. Regev emphasized the importance of securing data behind AI systems, stating, “AI is only as secure as the data behind it.” He noted that customers seek automated discovery of “shadow data” before it reaches model builders or analytics pipelines .
Sentra’s platform addresses several key challenges in modern data security, including the identification and classification of complex data types such as intellectual property, and the detection of misconfigurations, over-permissions, and unauthorized access.
