Building on the Youth Policy Dialogues of the first 100 days of the new mandate, the Commission is now launching a new online debate on the Citizens’ Engagement Platform. This brings the most prominent themes raised by young people into an open, EU-wide discussion.
Youth Policy Dialogues are an annual initiative that allow young people to engage directly with European Commissioners and share their views on EU policy initiatives.
During the first round the Youth Policy Dialogues were organised all over Europe:
- 26 Commissioners held discussions
- more than 400 young people shared their ideas and concerns
- they discussed different pressing issues, from climate change and agricultural policy to youth employment and social inclusion.
A report on the dialogues and debates will be published. This will feed into the development of policies that impact young people in the EU.
A recent EU survey shows that 67% of young Europeans would be interested in attending a dialogue with their peers and with EU representatives on matters of interest for the future of the EU.
The EU Youth Report 2024 reaffirms the Commission’s commitment to ensuring young people’s voices remain central in the creation of EU policies. It outlines the challenges faced by young Europeans, while highlighting the evolving EU policies aimed at enhancing their lives. It also shows that almost 60% of young Europeans have a positive perception of the EU.
Supporting young people and listen to their voices will therefore remain one of the Commission’s key priorities, also in view of the preparation of the EU Youth Strategy beyond 2027.
