Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that if Russia refuses the ceasefire proposals discussed during recent meetings between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations in Jeddah, the United States is prepared to implement strong measures. Zelensky expressed confidence that these actions would include further sanctions and increased support for Ukraine, though specific details remain unclear.

During a press conference, Zelensky emphasized the constructive nature of the talks, noting that both Ukrainian and U.S. sides had discussed key topics in detail. He explained that the U.S. had sought Ukraine’s readiness to take swift steps towards ending the war, and in return, pledged to restore support for Ukraine, which has been confirmed.

The Ukrainian president also mentioned that European partners have shown their backing, reiterating that the responsibility now lies with Russia. He concluded that U.S. actions, including sanctions and diplomatic pressure, would be critical in determining the next steps. Zelensky framed these potential measures as part of a strategy of “peace through strength.”
