Boko Haram Resurgence: Deadly Attacks Rock Northern Cameroon

World

In the past week, Boko Haram insurgents have once again unleashed violence across northern Cameroon, leaving behind a trail of destruction in Kolofata and neighboring villages. Situated near the porous border with Nigeria, the Kolofata region has long been a hotspot for militant attacks, and recent incidents have only intensified fears of the group’s persistent presence.

In the span of just three days, the attackers abducted two children and an elderly man, looted homes, and set an entire village ablaze. At least three people were killed in the onslaught, according to local reports from HumAngle. These new attacks underline the ongoing threat posed by Boko Haram, despite years of military operations aimed at curbing the group’s activities.

Residents of Kerawa, another town within the affected region, shared that they have been enduring violent raids since 2014, with displacement and fear becoming their grim reality. The relentless violence highlights the difficulties in securing this volatile border area, where insurgents have increasingly targeted civilians, showing little sign of retreat.
