Award-winning distiller Sagamore Whiskey released the 8-year-old rye whiskey in its Sagamore Spirit Reserve Series. This rye whiskey took 10 years to make and it will only be available for purchase for a limited time. Co-founder and President of Sagamore Spirit Brian Treacy spoke on the release of this whiskey, saying: “More time in a barrel doesn’t always translate to better whiskey, but this release shows what can come from careful, expert aging and thoughtful blending. The patience and care our distilling team took with this release dating back over eight years ago set the blueprint for the whiskies that would follow.”
After being aged for eight years in American white oak barrels, the whiskey brings out scents of dried cherries, clove, and smoked vanilla. As for flavor, there are hints of candied ginger, sweet orange, molasses, and nut brittle. Additionally, this rye whiskey won a Gold Medal from the ASCOT Awards and a Double Gold from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021. The rye whiskey will be available for purchase in early March.
