WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — One person was killed after a business jet ran into severe turbulence over New England on Friday, forcing the aircraft to land in Connecticut, officials said Saturday.
A strong storm system that produced high winds and snow across the area contributed to the turbulence, The Associated Press reported.
The Bombardier Challenger 300 executive jet, had three passengers and two crew members on board, WTNH-TV reported. The aircraft was traveling from Keene, New Hampshire, to Leesburg, Virginia, Sarah Sulick, a spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board, told the AP.
NTSB is investigating the March 3 turbulence event involving a Bombardier Challenger 300 airplane that diverted to Windsor Locks, Connecticut and resulted in fatal injuries to a passenger.

The executive jet was forced to land at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, according to the AP.
It remains at the airport, according to Fox Business.
The jet is owned by Conexon, a company based in Kansas City, Missouri, the AP reported, citing a Federal Aviation Administration database. The company, which provides high-speed internet to rural areas, declined comment on Saturday.
NTSB investigators were interviewing the two crew members and surviving passengers as part of their investigation, according to the AP. The jet’s cockpit voice and data recorders were sent to NTSB headquarters for analysis, WTNH reported.
A preliminary report is expected in about two or three weeks, Fox Business reported.
