New York, August 2025 — The UN Global Compact Network USA, the American chapter of the United Nations’ flagship corporate sustainability initiative, has appointed Shobha Meera, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer at Capgemini, as Treasurer of its Board of Directors. Meera succeeds Michael Okoroafor of McCormick & Company, who retired after a distinguished tenure advancing sustainability through corporate innovation.

As Treasurer, Meera will oversee the financial stewardship of Network USA, ensuring transparency, accountability, and strategic alignment of resources with the organization’s mission. Her appointment comes at a pivotal time as the network expands its efforts to mobilize U.S. businesses around the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, which cover:

  • Human rights
  • Labor standards
  • Environmental responsibility
  • Anti-corruption

🌍 Leadership and Experience

At Capgemini, Meera has led the integration of sustainability across global operations, championing initiatives in carbon reduction, diversity and inclusion, and responsible business practices. Prior to her current role, she served as Global Sales Officer for Financial Services, where she developed client strategies across banking and insurance sectors.

Her academic background includes:

  • Electrical Engineering from Osmania University
  • MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad

This blend of technical expertise and strategic leadership equips her to guide Network USA’s financial governance with a sustainability lens.
