The Earthshot Prize will host its 2025 awards ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 5, at the iconic Museum of Tomorrow. This marks the first time the global environmental initiative will be held in Latin America, following previous editions in London, Boston, Singapore, and Cape Town.
Founded by Prince William, the Earthshot Prize awards five winners £1 million each to scale innovative solutions addressing urgent environmental challenges across five categories: nature restoration, air quality, ocean revival, waste reduction, and climate action.
The choice of Rio underscores Brazilās growing leadership in climate diplomacy, especially as the country prepares to host COP30 in BelĆ©m later that month. The Museum of Tomorrow, known for its focus on science and sustainability, was described by Earthshot CEO Jason Knauf as āthe perfect venueā to reflect the Prizeās mission of urgency and optimism.
Prince William is expected to attend the ceremony and participate in engagements with local innovators, youth leaders, and policymakers. The event will spotlight 15 finalists whose solutions offer scalable impact for communities worldwide.
