DUBLIN — Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD, today welcomed the launch of the Creative Calling: Careers for the Curious initiative at the Higher Options and WorldSkills Ireland events at the RDS.

The initiative, part of a new pilot programme under the Creative Youth Plan 2023–2027, aims to connect 16–18-year-olds with career opportunities in the arts, cultural, and creative industries. Led by Creative Ireland in partnership with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, the Arts Council, Coimisiún na Meán, and managed by Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet, the programme highlights pathways from creative interests to professional careers.

Minister O’Donovan praised the initiative’s potential to inspire young people, stating it “showcases the diverse array of careers the creative, artistic and cultural sectors can offer.” He emphasized the importance of guiding students toward fulfilling career options aligned with their passions.

The Creative Calling exhibition features live demonstrations and expert advice from industry representatives, including the National Talent Academies, Writers Guild of Ireland, Irish Film Institute, and others. A downloadable careers information pack is available via the Creative Ireland website.

Higher Options and WorldSkills Ireland, running from 17–19 September, are Ireland’s largest education and skills expos, expected to draw over 30,000 attendees.
