Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, Neale Richmond TD, has announced the allocation of €7.9 million in funding to ten non-governmental organisations (NGOs) under Irish Aid’s Civil Society Fund. This initiative aims to support development projects that address critical issues such as education, healthcare, nutrition, and human rights in various countries.
đŸ§ Funded Organisations and Their Focus Areas
The following NGOs have been approved for funding:
- ECPAT International – Combatting the sexual exploitation of children.
- Global Witness Trust – Advocating for transparency and accountability in resource management.
- Fields of Life Northern Ireland – Providing education and clean water initiatives.
- Irish Red Cross – Delivering emergency relief and healthcare services.
- Nurture Africa – Supporting health and education programs for vulnerable children.
- Orbis Ireland – Addressing preventable blindness through medical interventions.
- Tearfund Ireland – Implementing sustainable development and disaster response projects.
- The Leprosy Mission Northern Ireland – Providing medical care and rehabilitation for individuals affected by leprosy.
- SeeBeyondBorders Ireland – Enhancing education and vocational training opportunities.
- Social Health and Education Project – Promoting community health and educational programs.

The Civil Society Fund is Ireland’s primary development project funding scheme, managed by the Development Cooperation and Africa Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs. It primarily supports Irish NGOs to carry out development projects overseas, with a maximum available grant of €800,000 per annum. The fund aims to strengthen civil society organisations in delivering essential services and support to the most vulnerable communities.
