U.S. and Iranian officials are set to convene in Muscat, Oman, on Saturday for the third round of expert-level negotiations concerning Tehran’s nuclear program. The discussions aim to establish a framework that would limit Iran’s uranium enrichment activities in exchange for sanctions relief.

Michael Anton, Director of Policy Planning at the U.S. Department of State, will lead the American delegation. Despite his extensive experience in policy planning, Anton has limited expertise in nuclear issues, raising questions about the delegation’s preparedness .

The talks follow a series of indirect negotiations in Oman, where U.S. officials warned Iran against advancing uranium enrichment to 90%, the threshold for weapons-grade material .

Iran maintains that its nuclear ambitions are peaceful and insists on the removal of sanctions as part of any agreement. The outcome of these negotiations remains uncertain, with both sides expressing cautious optimism.

The geopolitical climate remains tense, with Israel maintaining the possibility of strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, and internal U.S. policy shifting toward demanding a complete halt to enrichment. Despite challenges, hope persists in Iran for a successful resolution.
