As part of celebrating individuals, entrepreneurs and organizations who do amazing and creative work in the cannabis industry, Benzinga is featuring Stacey Hronowski at the Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference this April 11-12 in Miami Beach.
Hronowski is CEO & co-founder of Canix, one of the cannabis industry’s most comprehensive seed-to-sale enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions.
Hronowski, A Full-Stack Engineer
With a background in engineering and finance, Hronowski began his career at Cowen and Company before moving to H.I.G. Capital. Exploring the startup world, she took a consulting position with the Cannabis California Dreamin ‘company, where Hronowski helped build a system to reduce the data entry load for sales representatives. “Seeing how manual and error-prone the data entry process has sparked the idea for Canix,” she said.
Hronowski met her co-founder Artem Pasyechnyk, who currently serves as the company’s CTO, at a party. “They discussed her idea for an offline-enabled mobile app to help cultivators with data entry. Together, they coded and launched a beta product, which garnered positive feedback,” per New Cannabis Ventures.
Additionally, she is the senior VP of Pioneer Fund, a fund of Y Combinator alumni working together to invest in top Y Combinator startups. Hronowski was awarded Forbes 30 Under 30 and TechCrunch Disrupt 2020.
Building Solutions To Make Your Business Better
Built from the ground up for cannabis companies, Canix was founded in 2019 by Hronowski after consulting for a weed company in California. “I saw that they were doing a lot of costing, like their bill of materials costing, on Excel. I was like ‘you need to know your numbers, you need to know how much you’re making,’” said Hronowski on Benzinga’s Cannabis Insider podcast.
“What Canix is tackling, at a high level, is becoming that one system to run your whole cannabis business,” she explained. Canix serves cultivators, extractors, and distributors of all sizes, utilizing technology to maintain compliance with local and state regulations, scale operations, and create efficiencies that allow these businesses to thrive in a highly competitive industry.
Canix platform started as an inventory management tool that offered integrations with state systems like Metrc. Today, it’s an all-in-one seed-to-sale and ERP software certified Metrc integrator in 12 states and backed by top investors including Y Combinator. Across its customer base, Canix has cut the time of compliance by 75%.
Last year, Canix announced its official integration with Green Check Verified (GCV), the leading fintech provider of compliant cannabis banking solutions and services. This integration will enable GCV’s partners to seamlessly sync sales with Canix while greatly enhancing their data visualization capabilities. The company also raised $10 million last year in funding from venture capitalists.
