Secretary Rubio’s Meeting withSyrian Foreign Minister al-Shaibani and Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan
The below is attributable to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott:
Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan following Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s historic bilateral visit to the White House. They discussed opportunities to strengthen regional stability and security, and ongoing counterterrorism efforts, including Syria joining the D-ISIS Coalition as its 90th member. They also discussed ongoing efforts to locate missing Americans in Syria. The Secretary underscored President Trump’s commitment to give the Syrian people a chance at peace and prosperity and the importance of regional partnership to support Syria’s efforts to rebuild.
